Beautiful holiday cottage, really well maintained and lovely decor and sparkling clean , within minutes of Sandsend beach and a range of other stunning beaches within 20 mins . Kitchen well equipped for self catering and spacious living area and attic room for children to play . It was handy having a washing line and washing machine . The local village shop was handy and had lovely bakery goods and cheeses etc. we particularly enjoyed Egton show that was on at the time we were there and visiting the seals at Ravenscar . Had a fab holiday ! Hosts supplied us with good recommendations for places to eat and they responded quickly to our queries . Would highly recommend !

Great property. Excellent location. short drive from Whitby town centre and very close to Sandsend beach. Property had everything we needed and the kids loved their rooms. spacious car park very close by and we felt at home straight away. Licia and Matt were very helpful and gaining entry to the property was a breeze. Helpful instructions were in the property and also provided electronically. We really enjoyed our stay. Many Thanks!

We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is located in a peaceful location away from the road. Communication with Matt and Licia was very easy and helpful. Matts Dad popped round and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is located in a very nice village of Lythe. The house was very suitable for a family of 5 people and very well equipped. The parking is also very easy in the village car park 1min from the house. The local shop is fantastic and well stocked with local produce. The bus stop is just over the road and the bus stops twice an hour which can bring you down to the beaches in Sandsend or Whitby. We found the fox and hounds pub (only a 5 mins ride away) in Goldsborough great for a family meal out. Sandsend is also five minutes by car away and has a selection of restaurants. We really enjoyed the beach at Runswick bay (beautiful fishing village and large beach) which is only a 10 mins drive away. The house is also situated well for local walks (Cleveland way and Moors).

We had a lovely week at Sunbeam Cottage. The location is perfect, only a few mins drive from Sandsend beach and a perfectly placed base to explore the other coastal spots such as Runswick Bay, Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, as well as Whitby of course. The house was just the right size for our group - 3 adults needing 2 rooms and a child who slept in the bunk bed room. We had everything we needed and great communication from the hosts - when we struggled to switch on the oven (which ended up being really simple!) the hosts responded immediately to our email requesting help and ensured we had it sorted within minutes. We would stay at Sunbeam Cottage again.

Great comfortable clutter free home to stay in with everything you need. Heating was easy to use, which was needed on a very wet week. Tv had Netflix & Disney so easy to watch a film. Wi-Fi worked well. Easy nearby parking Upstairs bedroom was more spacious than it looked online, that room has a view of the sea.

We had a lovely week in Licia's cottage in Lythe. It was the perfect base to explore all the delights of North Yorkshire. Our only regret is that we didn't spend enough time in beautiful Sandsend enjoying the beach! The cottage was comfortable and we had everything we needed. Thank you!

What a fantastic property, we can’t fault the place. The cottage is spotlessly clean and very comfortable for the four of us. The sheets were ironed on every bed and towels as well. It had everything we wanted (dishwasher a real bonus) and was in a great location only 2 minutes from Sandsend. It was a great base for touring and visiting different places. Liciq and Matt were great hosts with excellent communication and quick to help when we needed it. We’d highly recommend this property and if we revisit the same area we’ll be looking to stay at Sunbeam Cottage again.

We stayed here during a hot week in August, had a lovely time in the area, the cottage was cool at night and we were able to open windows for air flow etc so sleeping was fine. The cottage had everything we needed and is well equipped. Lovely shower! Every morning we opened the curtains and watched the swallows and birds on the wires outside the cottage, also saw a barn owl on a couple of mornings. The Stiddy pub across the road was good, had a nice meal there. Also had fish and chips at The Fish Cottage in Sandsend also very good. Overall a great stay at this cottage.

We had a great stay, the house had everything we needed. The living room / dining area is bigger than it looks in the photos. The extra lounge in the loft bedroom was fantastic, a really relaxing and sunny space.

Lovely little end-terrace cottage with enough space for a family to comfortably stay. Lounge and dining area is comfortable and reqsonably spacious. Bedrooms are all cosy with comfortable beds. Galley kitchen is small but well equiped. Bathroom is smaller still, but has everything you need. Whole cottage was clean and plesant to stay in. Location is great being right over the road from the village pub and 10minutes drive from Whitby. Highly reccomended!

Lovely, clean, well equipped cottage in Lythe close to visitor attractions in Sandsend, Whitby, Runswick Bay, Staithes and Robin Hoods Bay. Can easily accomodate 4 adults. Parking is in village car park about 20-30 metres from cottage but is not an issue as could always get a space. Nice seating area in front garden if weather good. Good communication from owners made checking in very easy. Netflix nice extra touch. Highly recommended.

A lovely snug cottage in a great location. The Cleveland way is fairly close by and well worth a stroll along. We saw dolphins from the cliff top on our last day.

28/09/2021

A wonderfully located cottage in the chocolate-box village of Lythe, which is just as an English village should be with a perfect pub, village shop etc. We came for a writing retreat and it proved a perfect place for inspiration, with a great kitchen for cooking, comfy beds, desks, and Netflix etc for evening relaxation. Highly recommend.

Sunbeam Cottage is a delightful, pretty cottage set in a quiet location in the village of Lythe. Surrounded by beautiful Buddleias and butterflies the cottage has a welcoming feel as soon as you open the garden gate. Everything was clean and tidy inside and very well equipped. Fresh laundry and towels in every bedroom and a lovely view of the sea from the top floor bedroom. There’s also a wonderful shop in the village that has fresh baked cakes to die for. We would definitely recommend this little gem of a place to anyone wishing to explore the Yorkshire coast and countryside.

Lisa

This place is absolutely brilliant for a family with 2 young children.Spotlessly clean, and everything you need. The hosts were very informative too.The pub in the village, the Stiddy was good pub food and nothing was to much trouble, and very reasonable.I also would recommend the village shop, what a gem of a place. We would stay at sunbeam cottage again as it’s great for accessing lovely walks and great beaches.Who ever stays here is very lucky.

28/08/2021

Sunbeam cottage is wonderfully comfortable, well-equipped and cosy and is beautifully located in Lythe, in walking distance of the sea (provided you don't mind walking up a steep hill!). Matt and Licia were extremely helpful and responsive if needed. We loved our return stay and would highly recommend the cottage to others. Particularly recommend walks in the Mulgrave Estate, Runswick Bay for a swim, and the food and cakes in the village shop to take on a picnic!!

Gary

21/08/2021

Lythe is a really lovely location and a 15 mins walk to Sandsend beach. The local pub (The Stiddy) is a great pub. As for the accommodation, it was clean and spacious with Netflix/Disney+. Would go back again if we enter that neck of woods again.

Elena

07/08/2021

We had a really great week staying at Licia's cottage which is lovely - the attic room was particularly enjoyed by both our teenagers as it has a sitting room too, the photos don't do it justice. It was easy to park, there was a good village shop and pub just across the road, and we enjoyed visiting a number of beaches close by. When it rained we made good use of the property's Netflix. Communication with the hosts was quick and easy. We wholeheartedly recommend the cottage and there's lots to do in the area - you can head to the coast or go inland to the moors villages. Thanks for a lovely holiday!

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful location ideal base to explore Yorkshire. Sandsend beach is perfect for families and just around the corner is runswick bay which is a little gem too. We had never been to Yorkshire before and will definitely return it’s really pretty everywhere you drive you find another picturesque village or beach.

This is a wonderful cottage in a beautiful village just a kilometre from the beach at Sandsend. We had a fabulous week and thoroughly recommend Sunbeam Cottage. The walks from the door are great, the local pub is just across the road and serves good food. We had a fabulous meal at the Fish Cottage in Sandsend.

03/07/2021

We had a brilliant 6 night stay at Sunbeam Cottage. As a family of 4, there was plenty of space for all of us - the room at the top of the house is beautiful and my 16 year old son loved having it all to himself! The cottage is clean and was well equipped with everything we needed. The small outdoor space is lovely in the sunshine for a cup of tea in the morning. Lythe is a lovely village with a great local pub with friendly staff and excellent food, and the local shop is a real asset to the village, selling all the essentials plus some lovely bakery products. We would thoroughly recommend a stay at Sunbeam Cottage.

19/06/2021

Had a lovely week at Licia’s place. It’s a quaint, cozy wee house. We had everything we needed. Disney plus and Netflix were added bonuses. WiFi was quick too and could cope with all of us using it. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed for self catering. The front patio gets sun for most of the day, so is great for sitting out. The patio side of the house is full of bird song, and it was lovely to wake up to chirping. There’s a great community run shop nearby with sunny tea garden around the back. They also did tasty breakfast rolls and super cakes. The Stiddy pub was also friendly. Lythe itself is on a bit of a steep hill above Sandsend. It’s a good workout coming back that way! We would recommend this home if you’re wanting to explore the nearby coast and dales.

Pete

This place is more spacious that it looks from the outside. It is well served by public transport and there is a friendly shop and pub close by.

Can’t recommend Sunbeam Cottage enough. The house is beautiful and well catered and very comfortable. The village of Lythe is quiet and charming and well placed for lots of adventuring into the rest of the North York Moors. It was great to be able to walk out from the cottage onto the coastal paths.

30/10/2020

Sunbeam Cottage is in a brilliant location, just minutes from the beach and lovely walks along the Cleveland Way, and close to Staithes, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and other beautiful places. The hosts were very accommodating particularly in relation to uncertainty arising from COVID. We had a lovely stay (and felt safe throughout).

Mark

26/09/2020

A very comfortable, clean & well appointed cottage. Easy to keep warm and log burner added an extra dimension during the cool & wet 'end of season' evenings. Great quiet location within striking distance of the Cleveland coastal path & scenic rural walks from the door. Whitby & N Yorks Moors only a short drive away, so plenty of options available even on wet days. Runswick & its bay are a nearby & quieter alternative to Robin Hoods Bay....

John

17/09/2020

We loved this cottage and everything it had to offer. There is plenty of space and the kitchen is brilliantly stocked with everything you need for a trip away. The shower was great with lots of hot water for everyone and the wee bath was good to have for bathing our toddler. Lythe is a great location with a gin distillery across the road and a brilliant local shop with a tea garden out the back. The pub was not open at the time we visited but there’s plenty of other options around. We would definitely stay here again if we are back in the area.

Sophie

05/09/2020

Great cottage. Good location in Lythe. Local pub closed for the moment, but we either went into Sandsend or Whitby. Highly recommended

Simon

22/08/2020

The cottage was like home from home, you had everything in the cottage that you would have in your own home. If you didn't want to go out and wanted to cook something the stuff was there for you. It was clean and tidy. If you have children they would love it there, there were three bedrooms one room which had bunk beds, so big enough for a family of 5. All TV channels you could ask for to keep the kids entertained. There is not a lot if pubs around this didn't bother us too much because we just drove out. The beach is not to far and it was one of the loveliest beaches in Whitby. Plenty of parking but you do have to pay for parking.

Laura

15/08/2020

Lovely little cottage. Very clean, good amenities. Used as a good base to travel to different places. Was unable to meet the hosts due to COVID restrictions, but were easy to contact & very helpful. Will definitely stay again.

Gareth

08/08/2020

A beautiful and very well-positioned house in a lovely village location. It's a short (if rather steep!) walk to Sandsend and the sea, and a short drive to other beautiful beaches. Walks in the neighbouring Mulgrave Estate (open some days of the week) are fabulous. The house has everything you need, beds are comfortable and there is loads of hot water. Very clean and nicely presented. We had a brilliant stay and can't wait to come back.

James

01/08/2020

We had a lovely week in Sunbeam Cottage. The place felt so homely, with nice touches like artwork on the walls (which you don't always find in rental properties) and a gorgeous sunny room at the top with a glimpse of the sea a couple of miles away. The place is well kitted out, with things like a dishwasher and washing machine helping take the strain on a family holiday. A good internet connection and a big range of TV channels kept us all busy in the evenings! The large sandy expanse of Sandsend is only a 5 minute drive or 20-30 minute walk away and we used the cottage as a base for exploring up and down the coast. It was nice to escape the tourist bustle of Whitby and retreat back to our quiet and peaceful haven! All in all, a great find and a wonderful holiday.

Jennifer

25/07/2020

We had an amazing time at Sunbeam cottage. The cottage exceeded our expectations. The beach, a short bus ride away is beautiful. We ate at the pub across the road the food was excellent. A play park behind the village hall was great for our children. Rory responded very quickly to our questions. We hope to visit again sometime ! ?

We had a great time at sunbeam cottage. It’s a quaint cute cottage in a nice location. We spent most of our days in sandsend which is a 5 minute drive away and the most delightful little seaside village. Had great communication with the host and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Denise

21/04/2019

This is a clean comfortable cottage in a very nice location. The cottage has everything you need, including a working fireplace. Communication with the host was very good, and we were provided with milk, fruit and cookies on our arrival! The cottage is about half a mile from the beach, and the walk is very nice, through fields on a public walking path. On selected days the beach can be reached via a very lovely walk through the Mulgrave Estate, complete with medieval castle ruins. The village of Lythe is very small, but there is a well-stocked community store with all the basics, including freshly baked bread and excellent scones. We had a great stay!

Sunbeam cottage is a real gem of a place, we love it so much we’ve just had our 5th visit. Its a quirky old cottage with a modern twist and a real home from home with everything you could need for a lovely family break. Plenty of space so we can bring Granny along to babysit ! Really nice touch to have fresh milk, biscuits and fruit awaiting you on your arrival. The cottage Netflix access is great, after a day of exploring you can snuggle up in front of the log fire with a movie and unwind. We always arrive to find it very clean and well presented. Lythe village is the perfect spot to stay with a friendly pub, local shop and play park right on your doorstep. It’s an ideal base to stay local enough to explore the surrounding areas with ease then leave the hustle & bustle behind and head back to a perfect peaceful retreat. One of the best beaches of the area on your doorstep at sandsend great for a walk, play around in the sand or to watch the waves crashing at high tide. Another fantastic week away at Sunbeam Cottage just got home and already planning our next visit ! Thanks again for letting us stay.

Cat

12/08/2018

Sunbeam Cottage is a fantastic country retreat. It is beautifully decorated with lots of classic rural charm balanced by some lovely contemporary touches. The hosts are justifiably proud of the cottage and keep it spotlessly clean. The kitchen is well equipped (we very much appreciated the dishwasher!), there's a lovely family dining table too. The provision of a guest Netflix account was a nice touch and we really enjoyed cosying up on the sofa (or nabbing the rocking chair!) in the evenings. We almost regretted the warm weather as we would have loved to have taken advantage of the woodburning stove! The bedrooms are comfy and cosy and we had such a good night's sleep thanks to the perfect peace and quiet. The location is great! Whitby is a ten minute drive away and it's just a short walk to the coast and pretty Sandsend Village, where we found lots of lovely cafes for lunch, tea and cake and ice cream. The beach is gorgeous and there are some fantastic coastal and woodland walks around the area. Estbek House is highly recommended for a special evening meal. A huge thank you to our hosts for their hospitality - Licia was quick to respond to all of our questions and Rory was on hand when we arrived to give us a quick tour of the property and explain how everything worked. We had a super break at Sunbeam and will definitely be back!
